Grace Cathedral

Eagle down
no strings
even the full moon is feeling down
fallen eagle night
angels have been buried in the backyard
they had a thing for brut champagne
and far behind the archives
the autocorrect is lurking
waiting for its moment to pounce
it’s a pity you can’t even rent a room in this city
you’re PLAY ALL
i’m REPEAT 1
doesn’t that really say everything about us
eagle down
carved in granite
like sleepy dreams on the college radio
all strings on Shubert’s Unfinished No. 8
I dreampt of you last night
and I haven’t even thought of you for over a century
how was I to explain that in the morning?
and the bus was late
which made me late
She came to me
she said- that dream of me
it was a down-payment on the rest of history
she said- you ever hear how eagles mate-
they meet above the clouds
lock talens and swirl together back down
to Earth and sometimes they don’t let go
and they hit the ground and disintregrate
just like Shubert’s Unfinished No. 8
