Blackbirds in the deadtree
New living leaves calling out
In the chill of the morning
My head aches in broken memories
And false realities
The walk home is cold,
Bright and altogether arduous
— beautiful.
I will see her again
I promise the black leaves
As they stare indifferent and
Call out again into the cloudless sky
