Luck, If You Like It

Another flight: Seat 13A
          Racing across the Emerald Isle
          cozy cloud duvet
           sun glow pink
              snow shadow blue

Sunset
but we’re swifts overtaking the sun
skating over cloud seas over salt seas

We’re here again
running away
coming back home

There’s luck in it
the plane with the shamrock
the island with lakes and snow-dusted contours
the girl with a name that isn’t Irish
but might as well be

Strange sounds in the mouth
letters following their own rules
anti-clockwise along the ring road
Luck justifies herself to no man
