What do you do
when irreplaceable drifts away
& you feel nothing but
a barren body,
& your lungs endure the sensation of
collapse – suffocated by the pressure
emptiness trapped – inside a prison
made out of bone
& flesh. You put your hands
above your heart
& push with all your strength – until it hurts, but maybe then you might actually breathe once again.
What happens when
the compressions fail to relieve
& your heart bursts too,
shattering all the words
you wanted to say
but couldn’t,
& all the love you
failed to express – remains
silent.
