That’s the thing about

There’s the glow! Luminous light strikes, striking
-ly beautiful.  Like marble veins on a statue.
Cameras flash.
You might expect a roar. Often it’s a gentle rumble,
laugh along!
Rippling vibrations bury under your skin.
The rain nurtures, but you must rock a baby gently.
The wind whistles. What are we not hearing? Why are the dogs barking?
The rain and the wind are – maybe. Until they chill you to stone.
They’re stronger than they are back home.
That’s the thing about… Gone,
before you know what – they’re gone. Not looking
 back
once. You
               step
          out.
Charred tree stumps, flooded lawns,
broken telephone lines, sparking just like…
