someone distant someone slowly turning towards you in the passenger seat of your father’s car driving over rolling ohio hills in winter you are fifteen driven by your father rolling over snowy ohio hills it is winter because you’re fifteen and you are scared of the man who loves you scared of the man who has made the music too loud and the air hot too but they cannot go down he says so you could lower your window you say i am cold he says and you are fifteen looking out your father’s windows floating over frozen ohio hills above winter with the music staying loud and the growing air hot and the rushing wind around outside this man’s metal shining box hurtling over desperate ohio hills towards winter burning what is left of bodies ancient burning what is left of those who made you in a fire so hot so hot so you begin to itch you begin to shake all over ohio’s shrieking hills in winter so fast so fast so fast so you are always fifteen so you are forever your father’s heart enlarged and driven by beatings instant by beatings quickly coming for you.
