I’m afraid that tomorrow
the sun will rise from the left
and, caught off guard,
shine on my back,
making my shadow
appear too large.


Nazaret Ranea, born in Malaga, Spain in 1999 and currently residing in Edinburgh, Scotland, is an emerging poet with a diverse writing background in scripts, film reviews, theatre reviews and children’s literature. In 2023, she achieved recognition as one of Scotland’s rising Makars, revitalizing her passion for poetry. Her main focus is creating her debut anthology, and she recently released “My Men,” an intimate poetry collection. Nazaret’s work has found a place in numerous international anthologies and literary publications, establishing her as a rising poetic talent. She is actively involved in UK poetry festivals and events, collaborates with BBC Scotland, and made her debut at the prestigious Fringe festival in 2023, also sharing her poems on BBC Radio Scotland.
